Established in 1988, Solutions at Santa Barbara has been meeting the special needs of clients and families in the tri-counties area for over ten years. Located in the residential neighborhood of Goleta, Solutions at Santa Barbara is surrounded by large pine trees, adding to the peace and tranquility of the environment. The program offers clients the safe, distraction-free atmosphere of suburban living without sacrificing important access to shopping, businesses, public transportation, recreational and educational facilities.

Programs

Our residential and day treatment community re-entry programs emphasize physical therapy, speech/language therapy, and occupational therapy. An individualized program, based on an initial assessment of abilities, is quickly developed to address each participant's special needs. Under the supervision of a Medical Director, individual and group treatment sessions are conducted by licensed, experienced therapists. Each aspect of the program focuses on functional cognitive retraining, community based socialization, mental and physical endurance building, and the teaching and practice of compensatory techniques and strategies. Evening and weekend recreational/leisure activities are also offered.
Clients develop confidence as newly learned skills, behaviors, and responsibilities are practiced and reinforced. Our continuum of therapeutic services begins within our program and continues into our clients' home, community, educational, volunteer, and employment settings. Together with our large network of network of referral sources in surrounded communities, we provide a smooth transition to home. Collaborative discharge planning includes the family, physician, therapist, payor source liaison, and additional service providers as needed.

Involvement

The involvement of family and significant others is critical to our clients' successful outcomes. Family support meetings, conferences, resource materials and individual counseling are available. Families are encouraged to observe therapy sessions, participate in brain injury education and training, and attend our family conferences to maintain close involvement in the individual's recovery. Our case manager is in frequent contact with family members, payors, and referring facilities to establish agreed upon expectations for realistic functional outcomes.
